Whenever I open a new part created by others, it comes in with a scene/environment/background enabled. The issue with this part is that SW doesn't like something about the relations in your profile sketch. If you delete them, the sweep with guide curves completes without errors. The trick will be to determine which relation(s) it doesn't like. Update: After some further tests I see what's happening....

I think the problem is that the two profiles are slightly different (circle and ellipse) and there are inaccuracies in the drawings. In my case, I used the same Sketch2 profile and unchecked surface blending and it worked. I recommend being more precise and avoiding surface penetration like yours i...

The shape can not change on a sweep, it can rotate around the center and/or contort when using "keep normal constant" setting, but the shape never changes. To get it to jut out on the left side like your skecth shows you would most likely have to do a loft or a series of extrudes/cuts. I ...

You're also using a path, right? Is the center of the ellipse "pierced" by the path? I don't actually have SW installed right in front of me, so I can't look at your file. The GC also needs to pierce the ellipse point. Make sure you're using the correct option "follow path and first ...

I'm trying to sweep an ellipse with a guide curve, but keep getting an error that says, "The intermediate profile # 2 could not be solved.", which tells me approximately nothing. Do any of you guys know what SW is complaining about?

I think Alex was right. I just had the same thing happen again and it turned out there were mates on both ends of a mirror.

Any model that you can bring into Solidworks can be measured with very high precision. Curved parts may be difficult, but measurements can be taken.

Are you aware of the cost of a Solidworks license? I don't think you're going to want to pay $5k just to measure a part.

My template has axes in it. I also have a macro to add them to any part/assembly file. These are not sketch axis, but the 3 primary axis that can be used on any sketch/feature. You're right, of course. What I didn't mention is that I've tried all the alternatives in Winders and none of them have any impact on the scaling in SW.

Does SW control the default print settings that it uses or is it entirely controlled by Winders? The reason I ask it because every time I print, I find that scaling has been set to 100%, which is rarely what I need. My Winders defaults are set to Scaling: None.

Potentional Circular Reference detection, which has changed detection levels in the last few versions of SolidWorks, causes the alarm of yellow displayed equations.
