CATIA Symbols font...

Does anyone here have the CATIA Symbols font (Windows TTF) that they can share please? I didn't have a backup of it, and can't remember for the life of me where I downloaded it from. Solidworks is feeling lonely and missing it, and keeps reminding me to install it when I open certain files. TI...

Re: Is there a way to apply a material to an assembly?

Starting in 2024 the current rendering package, Photoview 360, will be gone and Visualization will be the replacement. It has yet to be determined (at least shown in public) how this will turn out or look. I doubt that, and this is based off of the previous experience of the rendering side of thing...

Re: Photoview360

Thanks for that comparison. Can you comment on the two images and what you see as better in one compared to the other? Maybe there is something that should be obvious to "the initiated", but not to the rest of us who just see two pictures of a glass. I agree with everything BuseHas...

Re: Photoview360

What do you mean with "settings"? Quality settings or rather lighting and materials? Post processing could be also necessary. To be fair, I'm not sure really! I've not spent much time with Visualize at all, as I find it's just not particularly intuitive, and while I have no doubt it can p...

Re: Exporting model with no retrievable data

A couple of manufactures have asked us for models to insert into their assemblies. I just create "solid" STEP files, with any important internal geometry (seal grooves/pistons/pockets etc.) removed. At the end of the day though, basic (and even quite involved) reverse engineering is simple...

Re: Define sketch orientation

I find it's easier to just learn and adapt, than fight the software! 🤣🤣🤣

Really, how much of an inconvenience is it having the "Auto-rotate the view to normal..." checked/unchecked and just getting on with it?

Re: Photoview360

I never got to use visualize, kind of wish I had. For all the hype (by SolidWorks), I find PV360 better. It's much slower, but 9 times out of 10, the results are much more pleasing. Visualize lighting is much harsher, and I find more difficult to control. It takes longer to tweak all the settings t...

Thanks, Matt. Hopefully it will encourage either some sharing of renders, or some chat about usage of PV360 and/or Visualize.

Photoview360

Seeing as there's nothing in this section yet, I thought I'd kick it off with a couple of Photoview360 renders. Visualize is hugely faster, but for my needs I find it needlessly complicated, and frankly I often get better results in Photoview! Anyway, here's a couple of samples, to maybe spur a litt...

Re: Be Active - or else...

@Andy Yeah, this PC was built primarily for gaming. If I was doing real work with it, I would probably try to snag a used quadro. Ebay has some K6000s in the $500 range. Personally, I wouldn't go older than an M series card now, and for that money I would [and did] go for the P4000. The K6000 is a ...

Re: Be Active - or else...

Depends, on my home PC I have a gaming card...costs $500, and the equivalent "quadro" version costs $2000. However my home PC is just for hobbyist use and the CAD programs I have are education versions. Still, SolidWorks is the only one that balks and limits stuff on my Geforce. Inventor ...

I'm not sure I'd actually deactivate anyone, just want to push people to participate. You can lurk without an account, the only reason to sign up is to participate, unless there's something else going on. Thanks for posting, though. As I mentioned, I run two forums myself; one as having an interest...

Re: IS THERE A FREE RENDERER?

I'm curious what you can't do with Photoview360? I know it's not perfect, but you can get some half decent results with it in my experience (for free). Admittedly, if you're looking to do environments and scenes, then it's not going to cut the mustard, but if you're just needing to render parts and ...

FWIW, hello from a SW Forum lurker. I can echo ddemar5651 pretty much word-for-word. Lurked for years, never needed to post, and regularly read posts that apply to me. I also run two forums myself, so understand the spam/malicious user angle, but personally think deactivating accounts isn't the way ...
