Re: Programming in SolidWorks, how important is it?
Macrofeatures seem to be another way of achieving remarkable results if you know what you're doing with programming. When I first saw this it blew my mind as to what would be possible. https://r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com/me/bookmarks?content=swym:prd:R1132100503382:qnaquestion:1oy...

Re: Filter by Component Reference
Presumably the logic is you don't need to find the thing you've just right clicked on as you know where it is?
I'd like some way of enabling "start from the top" without further intervention every time I use the tool.

It looks like the component reference is available through the API. You might be able to write a macro to accomplish what you want to do. https://help.solidworks.com/2016/english/api/sldworksapi/solidworks.interop.sldworks~solidworks.interop.sldworks.icomponent2~componentreference.html Cheers. Re: Filter by Component Reference
Hi Alex, the Component Reference is separate to Configurations, it's effectively a Unique ID for each instance of a Component. image.png I've got some useful replies on the other place; I'd never used the Go To tool and had basically forgotten it existed. It's a good workaround for this issue (espec...

Filter by Component Reference
Does anyone have a solution for being able to filter the Feature Manager by Component Reference? There is an open SPR for adding the functionality but I'm hoping there's a workaround I haven't found. I have some PCBs that have come in through CircuitWorks so all the parts have the unique Component R...

Very nice!
Do you think it would be possible to extract the actual date/time for the post and display that rather than the "1 hour ago" nonsense they persist with? The data seems to be available when you hover over their vaguestamp.

Re: New for SW2024
New enhancements are now added every service pack. For users like me who are in LDR mode a lot, having breadcrumbs available in LDR mode is huge (2024 SP1). UU Next month (2024 SP2) we get the Component Preview Window in LDR, also. >< I'm intrigued by how well this will work. Annually the Beta test...

Re: Ability to Copy an Element from one Drawing Sheet to Another and Paste it in the Same Location on the New Sheet
I've possibly been missing something for a number of years and will soon be feeling quite silly, however the Note that I have as part of my sheet format is never generated when I add a new sheet to a drawing, it only ever exists on Page 1 when I create the document in the first place. Re: SpaceMouse + regular mouse shortcut customization tips?
As far as Mouse Gestures go, having the S-key menu in the bottom-right location of the Gesture Wheel is definitively the best place for it, as when it pops up it's already underneath your cursor without having to change direction. I've got a SpaceExplorer and I think the button I use most is to togg...

Re: Ability to Copy an Element from one Drawing Sheet to Another and Paste it in the Same Location on the New Sheet
How close does it need to be? I'm asking because you can paste the view on the same sheet and drag it so it overlaps the original as close as you can get it, then go to the tree, select the copied view, and drag it to the sheet name of the sheet you want it on. It will be placed in the same locatio...

The idea slide thing? Yeah, that now pops up when you turn on the Ideas filter rather than hiding about 3 screens deep. Vaguely kind of almost useful but more show than go.

Just stumbled on to this one after 14 years of SW usage.
Want to add something to a dimension? You don't need to type the + symbol! You can just stick the number you want to grow it by at the end and SW figures it out.

Re: SOLIDWORKS Top Ten List - Curated List of Ideas for Busy Users
I've had one-on-ones with the Enhancement ideas team. I've given all that feedback and more. "Gathering support" means it's been loosely vetted by someone at DS and available for voting, like in the TTL. The only stage after "gathering support" is "implemented". Duplica...

Just realised it's not a totally useful comparison because that community also includes some of the more popular ideas from previous TTLs...but doesn't easily expose the number of votes they got because that would be too Swymple.
