Re: BMW subscription features
My Jeep Grand Cherokee I bought 7 years ago came with several services that required subscription. SiriusXM was one I just couldn't live without, and I can use it away from the car on my phone. But they wanted me to pay for other services on the electronic/connected hardware. After a year of service...

Re: 2D CAD drafting vs 3D CAD modelling, what do you think?
I've had a couple complaints about this post, but I let it slide because the 2D vs 3D question is always valid, even if I think the direction the original post takes is not the best. Plus, I don't want to squelch the discussion of other CAD packages, even if it's started by a shill. There are other ...

Re: Unable to use the cavity feature more than once
The Cavity tool is really for making molds, and it's kind of quirky.
Use the Boolean tools, and I would do it as multibody part rather than in-context in an assembly. You could also use Intersect, although that's usually for more complex work.

Re: Solidworks Mouse Gestures - Implemented Correctly?
To me, gestures are a very inefficient UI method. The software has to collect a lot of data in the first place, and then a motion is far more complex than other types of input. Sometimes I just watch people using different UIs, for example a smart phone. Gestures are the one UI type that people tend...

That's a 3d Connection spaceball icon. It shows the center of rotation for the space all. You might look through the registry to see if there is a setting for that. Pretty sure there's not an obvious answer.

I think you have to think about how you're going to use the dimension. Is it only reference? Do you really need 3 or 4 places on that dimension? Do you have a fixture or some special technique/tool to measure it? If it's difficult to create the dimension in CAD, it's probably also difficult to physi...

When the draft is in a direction different from the extrude, or the draft has to be applied as a separate feature, fillets in the sketch and fillets before the shell generally hurt the chances of draft working. In general, it is best practice to avoid fillets in feature sketches. Of course the...
