Re: Cad deployment in the age of Covid
RDP is great for some things but CAD usage isn't one IMO. There is usually no graphics acceleration so sketching and model manipulation is sluggish. And many of our users have slower internet connections so even most movements just dragging windows around can be sluggish. I use it for working on se...

Re: File Refs in the parent file, opened by full path or just file name?
Since I use multiple versions, I need to be very careful on file reference. After copying all the files to new location, I need to reference them so they don't open in old folder and save new version there. After copying all files, I'll rename the original folder so SW can't find it. Open assemblies...

Re: Proper Install of SolidWorks
Create work folder for each version for all SW files: template, style, etc: folder.jpg You'll need to remember to use files with correct version so you don't "contaminate" them. Backup to another drive is highly recommended. Set Data and Temp folders: SWInstallFolder-01.jpg Work folder: SW...

I still can't get an answer as to when the new Structure Systems that's supposed to replace Weldments will be ready for production use...I was more than slightly annoyed that they finally added the ability to use a spline (which I considered a bug), but only added it to SS, not Weldments because th...

Is the key pressing more ''smooth''? Not smooth at all. It give a positive "click" so you know you did pressed the key. Other soft keyboard might not get the "key" if you type too fast. It would be "fatal" in a game  And, this thing is loud. Loud as a typewriter...

I think the point that user did not address is the fact that the 3DE platform was neither designed nor intended to be used as a large public forum so using it for such an application is either a poorly thought out choice or purposeful for some intended outcome, which I also mention in the post. In ...

Remote desktop doesn't work well, graphics performance is not good for one and it can be sluggish overall. RDT or similar connection reduce bandwidth because it only "live stream" the screen. Instead of all the files. So user don't need powerful computer. Done properly they can use a tabl...

VPN is just a secure login, connection. Pulling all those data across the network is. wrong. If user need to pull 100MBs constantly to do their work, it is wrong even on LAN. Either put all data on user's "home" "remote" computer or setup something like Remote Desktop. When you G...

Re: File Refs in the parent file, opened by full path or just file name?
In any multi-user environment, ALL users NEED to use SAME folder structure.
Same drive letter (local and mapped network drive).
All you need is one user don't follow this rule to have never ending file referencing.
This apply to PDM and not.
Also apply if software remember full path or not.

I loath the thought of trying to put together a "test plan" for updating to a newer version. Depends on your setup. I had 4 versions installed and able to run them all together. Currently I have 3: 2019 SP5, 2020 SP4, 2021 SP2. 2020 SP5 refused to install. Beside the program installed in ...

They need to keep delivering products to stay successful. That's why they got Keystone. The more successful they're on YouTube and Kickstart, the more pressure on manufacturing. Once supply cannot keep up with demand, it start to come apart. People, consumer always looking for the "new" an...

If they don't change, they will go down. You can work with no standard, no planning on art and 1's 2's. Once you need production of 10's with 100 different configs, you can't wink it. Anyone can pitch a kickstart with great photos. Only a few actually deliver their product. Some struggled to deliver...

Gather a group of investors.
Buy Wyrmwood when the time is right.
I believe you'll figure that out.
They need to focus on the product they want to make.
Stay away from managing production.
