Re: What does this icon mean
When you add the images, it's tempting to click "place inline", and that adds a duplicate line of text. Either delete the line of text or use the Delete button @Jaylin Hochstetler shows. From my experience if you click "place inline" it will only show it in the body of the messa...

Re: Welcome!
Do they have a member counter over there? It sounds too transparent for that sort of group. The SolidWorks community there show 4794 members that I guess they imported. But who can tell, you can't search the list and scrolling thru it is futile as like everything else there, it's a ginormous displa...

I agree on that one.AlexLachance wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 8:58 am The dark version is way too dark, the borders need to stand out more and the background needs to be a shader lighter then the post backgrounds or vice versa.

Here's a chart showing the difference between this forum and 3D SWYM. I'm not sure that the 3D SWYM members are correct but it still gives a good illustration of the difference.

I noticed the same thing. Though I do like the Prolight theme. It looks a little bit more modern and professional.Zhen-Wei Tee wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 7:25 pm Hmm...

rather than MB parts. Sorry, what is MB parts? Here is a good example of a multi-body (MB) part. It has weldments and sheetmetal all in the same part file. We use this for everything that is welded on the machine and then the rest of the parts are put on in the assembly. In my mind if your using SW...

If I have to do any work from home (which isn't very often) I use RDP. In fact, I even use it here at work with my laptop. If I have to resolve an issue out on the floor I'll take my laptop out there and remote into my CAD computer. Much easier, don't have to have SW on my laptop and I can utilize t...

What's the $$$ of private files w/ Onshape?
Having your files on a cloud always sort'a scared me 'cause what if they decide to raise the price to some outrageous price. Sure, you can quit paying but tough luck getting your files.

Yea, it wouldn't take much to have better service than SW. Though I do agree with @Glenn Schroeder that not all VARs are the same. Our current VAR is GoEngineer and we have had fairly good luck w/ them so far.

This tool is no longer a viable CAD software for medium to large assembly projects, period! With that said, which CAD software ...

As far as converting, how many of your old files do you need to use going forward? percentage. I would say we would probably have to convert around 80% of our files that are currently in use. My usual practice on other forums is to take a screenshot, paste it in Paint, add circles and arrows, select a region, copy, and paste directly in the text body. That doesn't work here. We are checking into SE and have a couple questions someone might be able to answer. How does SE handle multibody parts? From what I here it is more assembly oriented, is that correct? Currently we put everything that is welded in one MB part. And then everything else is put in the assembly. Then we...

I recently learned a new one from Betty Baker. It's one of those cases where I can't believe I've been using the software as much as I have since 2009 and didn't know about it earlier. I've often casually noticed the asterisk at the end of the file name at the very top of my monitor, but never gave...
