Re: SW 2022 SP3 - First Thoughts
Freebies for your subscription? ;) No, that's when they mess up and have to fix it immediately. The way it should work, if you buy a license in a year you get all the updates for that year. It's not like they are issuing new features. And they've introduced regressive bugs in SPs more than once. Th...

Re: SW 2022 SP3 - First Thoughts
Sometimes, I wish SolidWorks would just throw me a licence so I could install it at home and play around with it while always keeping it up to date to report bugs to them as I find them. I could run my work set-up at home on the most recent version to test it out actively. Bring in some model from ...

Re: SSP and planes
I was able to duplicate it by editing the inserted model feature, turn off "sketches", then turn them back on. It loses all references to the sketches even when the sketches are turned back on. Well, that's just asking for trouble. I've never done anything like that. Usually, it would be ...

Re: Solidworks Mouse Gestures - Implemented Correctly?
I will forever sing the praise of the S Key Menu in the bottom-right of the Mouse Gesture wheel. image.png Having to release the button on top of the icon would feel like a burden because as noted elsewhere you then need to pay attention to where the cursor actually is as opposed to just making the...

All I know is that once it loses the reference, and I recreate it, it's likely to lose it again.

Re: SSP and planes
I'd sketch in the new part upon a plane in the SSP. If I really wanted it in the new part, I would create a reference plane in the new part coincident to a plane in the SSP. Good luck. I know that relations to sketches in the SSP get lost. It's a pain to fix when it happens. I'm guessing external s...

Hey @Alin,
I see you've got a thread going about importing stl files. But, I didn't see you comment on this thread. Looks like Dennis found a solution. But, I figured I'd bring it to your attention.

Re: Weld Symbols - not parametrically linked to model?
3D weld is hit or miss. I think some use it for weld weight calculation. Most of the time I can't get the weld I need. For that kind of thing, what about just adding fillets manually? I guess it depends on the complexity of the weld and part, but when you don't have a good tool, you have to do what...

The weld notes don't update in the drawing....so th...

Re: How to handle simple BOM changes regarding 'different' parts
The simplest way to handle that would likely be to have multiple configurations in the model. Reference whichever is appropriate in the Assembly, which would be reflected in the BOM. This method also has the least potential for errors, lost links, mates, etc when switching from one to another. This...
