I get the feeling that the VARs and SW Partners have been told they are not allowed to use any forum, if they are going to be active they must use the SWYMp. <()>

I got that impression as well. Some of the more active posters on the other forum are nowhere to be found here. I have to assume that is due to pressure from DSS.

It is good to know about the "foe" setting. So far I've only encountered one user who will be on that list.

I still kinda feel bad for the people trying to get the SWYMp to work. The old cliché of "trying to polish a turd" keeps coming to mind. Then that makes think of the cleanup efforts they've been trying and it reminds me of those horror photos people post of when their new Roomba has done it's job on the hard wood floors after the dog did his job on the hard wood floors.

Then there's a handful of jokers the stop by to feed the dog chilly and make sure the Roomba is charging for the next round.

What's funnier is the fact that it appears to be implemented already. However only on the Solidworks User Forum, other communities still have it...so you're probably right.

So here's the list of "enhancements" and as far as I can tell the only one currently implemented is that one.

I only have one enhancement for them:

Purchase actual forum software and abandon trying to "shoehorn" this functionality into your PLM platform.

Is 3DE/3DSyWm a PLM software or just a another Facebook? I'm genuinely curious because, well the information available defining what it is...S%*KS.

Does the platform actual deal with PLM stuff, tracking parts, EC's etc? Does it replace PDM? Also curious because it was my impression you could move to the platform with your existing PDM.

IMO, the 3DEXPERIENCE stuff is more like a "cloud" replacement for PDM&PLM
Based on my understanding, you could not used PDM and the 3DEXPERIENCE together.

Does the platform deal with PLM stuff? Yes, but it seem like you need to purchase their "3DEXPERIENCE PLM" role or something

Does it replace PDM? That depends.

Not to mention it had tons of limitations, eg: no adds in, no toolbox, no api support, require an internet connection.

The 3DSWYM, on the other hand, is something different. (FYI SWYM means Say What You Mean, except you cant say because of the bad interface at the moment)
Dassault call it as "Social Innovation Application", which to me is just another rip off of Facebook and other social media
3DSwYm is a social enterprise platform that goes beyond today’s mostly static corporate intranets and information systems, transforming the way companies and their employees can drive innovation and contribute actively to company’s vision and strategy. Designed to dynamically share and leverage knowledge, 3DSwYm creates value by enabling organizations to uncover and harness individual talents and ideas inside and outside the company, including partners, suppliers, consumers or any other stakeholder. Connecting via communities brings objectives and content more sharply into focus and helps everyone concentrate on an organization's strategic priorities. These communities foster powerful synergies, creating an open and participative approach.
Does it work effectively as a platform? No
Does it work effectively in sharing and storing information? No
Does it work? I dunno, but most of us will say No

I thought 3DExperience and the Swym platform went hand in hand. Can you actually install 3DSyWm separate from the 3DExperience stuff?

Not sure why I even bother to try and understand this, no way we are moving to it anytime in the near future since it doens't support any 3rd party software at the moment. FWIW it supposedly supports tool box now...but not CAMWorks or Driveworks.

I think this is exactly correct, it's "Click bait". You see a heading in a community that "Sounds cool" and suddenly you're flipping thru 35 pages of a slide show trying to find that one "Cool" thing you were originally looking for. After you've provided 25 places with "clicks" because the page format shifts so often that by the time you're actual desired click is registered you've landed on something you never wanted to see...you give up and go find a hard copy book to read.

Zero Thickness Geometry is Buddhist CAD.

The geometry has finally reached its state of nothingness, which is the only way to receive the enlightenment. :D

If anyone can figure out what order these posts are supposed to be, I'll donate $10 to this forum. https://r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexp ... 28WB8kijoA

Also, check out the video of the frustrating search tool. Notice how I click on the search results and it does absolutely nothing, even though it looks like it will. o[ I can't believe how difficult it is to actually use that interface.

Also, check out the video of the frustrating search tool. Notice how I click on the search results and it does absolutely nothing, even though it looks like it will. o[ I can't believe how difficult it is to actually use that interface.
Looks like the migration of that thread was akin to the difference between McNuggets and Chicken strips. They took the whole thing, put it through a grinder several times, pressed it into a mold, cooked it, put some kind of breaded covering on it and called it a thread. Good luck.

Actually why bother? That thread is sooooo ooooooldd what good could a conversation from four months ago be in our fast paced disruptively collaborative innovating world? Get with the times man!

Yea, migrated thread had been a mess, if the original thread is using reply to reply, quote, the formatting is really screwed.

For searching, I can comment on this...
We had a pretty long discussion with Lin last month on the Search, check out this post in the swymp https://r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexp ... CE2lVHZPEQ

If you are a normal user
You need to click the arrow on the right and select the Preview

After that you need to click the open button which is blocked by the interface

It seem like Lin had removed some of his reply, but according to him, he can get it to work by "DOUBLE CLICK"-ing but it seem to only work for DS account, not normal user

Maybe we are seeing it wrong. The platform do WORK, but only if you are from DS
Far too many items in the world are designed, constructed and foisted upon us with no understanding-or even care-for how we will use them.

How badly programmed can a platform be when your own staff has to learn on the fly how to use it, just like regular users.

Typical symptoms of unchecked feature bloat. Nobody or the the wrong body overseeing the project. All the gizmos and widgets went completely out of control and created a monstrosity that is so unpredictable nobody understands what it does or how it's going to behave. Can you imagine what a complete test case plan would look like for the SWYM? I can only assume it was not done.

Do they realize the SWYM is what people see of the 3DExperience? The SWYM is what sets precedence of the perception of how all they other apps will be like in the platform. Why would anyone buy that is beyond me.

And yet, despite that difficulty, you are still going to that site, feeding their click count.
