Can someone tell me how to turn this off by default?

I'm guessing if it can be done, it has to be done at the template level. If it works, you will have to open the template, then go through the steps to use this feature. After that you can delete everything out of the history tree and save the template.

If it works, you will have to open the template, then go through the steps to use this feature. After that you can delete everything out of the history tree and save the template.
FYI, I've had weird troubles in the past if I open the template directly to do this sort of thing. Strange tessellation settings, subsequent parts being marked dirty for reasons that don't make sense, etc. Therefore I always create a part using a template, go though whatever steps are needed, and then save the part as a template. I never fully understood the quirks, and my var was happy with the work-around, but it's no more work to do it this way.
